Arizona is a top tier battleground state that has increasingly moved in a progressive direction over the last decade, largely because of the work of Living United for Change in Arizona, [LUCHA] a community-led organization committed to raising new leadership in Arizona through confronting the most pressing needs of its often-underserved communities. From a state that was solidly in the control of former Sheriff Joe Arpaio (whom LUCHA helped defeat in 2016) and Governor Jan Brewer, who signed SB1070, to a state that sends more Democratic members of Congress than Republicans in 2018, LUCHA has been at the forefront of a dramatic shift in Arizona politics.

LUCHA is focusing on a universe of 125,000 Latinx households across the highest population counties in the state: Maricopa, Pinal and Pima. The goal is to knock on doors if possible, but in the meantime, LUCHA is running a sophisticated digital program, making calls and peer-to-peer texts to constituents, signing them up for a Facebook Messenger program and serving ads with relevant messaging for their base.
